64 Duo lives
Now that spring is here, I've resumed to getting the bike to run. Last fall it just barely ran, just barely started. I decided to start from scratch tuning up. Points dressed and gapped, plugs gapped, timing set static with a bulb, push rods adjusted. All this and hardly a pop when kicking and kicking. Installed one of Cotten's Durable floats, as my original float had swollen and had to be Jail breaked out. Now I was getting gas, and some nice loud backfires, but no run. I couldn't think of anything left to try. I hemhawed around and FINAlLY decided to change out plugs points and codenser even though I had done this last fall. Darned bike started in two kicks! If I wasn't such a cheap bast... Er uh, frugal soul, I could've saved a lot of grief. Oh well, I have started it several times today with the legendary single kick. If it starts again like this tomorrow, I'll know I'm on to something. Put a few miles on to warm it up and dial in the Linkert , seems to be running great. Thanks to all on this site for sharing their knowledge on these bikes.
