Re: FLE?
FLE was common for police bikes. It was a medium compression model more suitable to tolerate lengthy periods of idling, and stop and go traffic.

Re: FLE?
The traffic combination was an engine built for slogging around town. It had a fairly mild cam (marked 61 on the lobe), low compression pistons, A different carb with a small venturi and lower overall gearing. It was sort of a replacement for the 61ci engine which ended in '52. the FLE continued into the beginning of the FLH era in '56. It was popular with Police departments, escort riders, some other commercial users. It ended up being replaced by the FL as the base model and the FLH as the sport model. Lots of '53,'54, and '55 cases are around stamped as FLEs.
