Lowest Production year FLH

#1

Post by jarhead »

I was told 1962 was the lowest production year for the FLH with only 100 made. I could not find anything in the knowledge base. Does anyone here have the answer? Thanks.

In 1962 5184 Duo's were produced, I can't imagine that just 100 of those were FLH's.

I can't imagine also that only 100 FLH's were made in 1962. I was told the information that stated this was in the Harley Davidson Data Book by Rick Conner. If anyone knows the correct information please chime in please.

I believe '63 was the lowest production year for Panheads. Probably 2/3s of those bikes were FLH models. Production numbers [ approximate ] are available in the Data book and The Legend Begins book from H-D.

According to the Data book:
1962 5184 Duo-Glides (no distinction in models)
1963: 1096 FL, 950 FLF, 100 FLH and 2100 FLHF (4196 total)

So the 100 FLH's would be tank shift models. FLHF being foot shift. That makes sense

The differance between a FL and a FLH is that the FLH had a hotter cam. This was done to pump up thier police sales. It's hard to beleave that Harley servived the sixtys but what a story. Two decades hanging on by the skin of there teeth. Bless AMF. With out them your new harley would be sporting a four cylinder mill as the turn of Trumph. Bob
