kickstart problem

what mod's can i do to make kickstarting a little easier electric start is
out of the question. ie spark plugs, magneto, carb.

You didn't mention what you where trying to kick start. How does it run after you do get it running. I would begin with doing a manifold leak test and if that show's to be fine the next thing I'd check would be your valve adjustments. All pan-heads have their own pesonality and once you learn what yours want depending on the situtuation (cold,hot,or in between) you'll find it to be quite predictable. Took me a year to learn mine. In the mean time you can try eating losts of pizza and beer to gain about 15 pounds. That should help till you get to know her. One last thing most Pans don't like a lot of gas when starting so if your doing any primer squirting before kicking. Stop doing that.

the bike is a 62 panhead what type of plugs should i be using? also it has
a s&s super b carb. after i throttle pre starting i noticed when i pull the plugs they are dry why? can you help me .

Autolite standard 4275, Premium MP4275 gap: 0.25
Champion: J-12Y or J-12YC

I had a Super B on my 57 with a mag. Super be has no choke plate or accelerator pump so starting a Pan can be difficult. I have no problems starting with my Linkert. If memory serves me on the 57 I had to pull the enricherner and kit 3 times with ignition off then turn encrichener off, turn key on and give a good kick, started 90% of the time. That last 10% sucked.

My 62 has a Linkert.
Cold - ignition off choke on throttle open. kick three times. set choke to one click on, ignition on kick.
hot -choke one click on ignition on kick.
works 90% of time.
Tuning is very important.
