Sidecars

#1

Post by 51Hog »

Greetings all!
Been a while. The 51 is working great, still marking its spot. Winter has been a little icy here in Wasilla Ak. so I just put the insurance on vacation and parked the scooter.
Been thinking about side cars lately, and been looking for info.
To all of you that have experience with them on our old rigid scooters...

I see that there are s/c with suspension at the wheel, and others that the cab is on springs. I wonder how the pan would react with each of these designs.
Pros and cons?
There has to be some flex between the car and the scooter to keep the metal fatigue at bay-- Maybe the mounting system?
I cannot find a S/C (Sidecar) that is within my price range, and am considering building one, as I have the tooling and the skills. Just do not have the knowledge.
I would like very much to build one that would appear from a distance to be original.
Anyone have any detailed drawings, or blueprints and or pics of something interesting?
Thanks, Dale
