Top speed on a 1947 WL

If it's mostly stock and in good running order. I know someone selling one with 52 Hydra-Glide forks instead of the springer. Otherwise stock, and a solid runner. Will it handle the highway? As long as it can do 80 I won't be getting crushed on the interstate. If they can't do that I might have to keep looking. I do like this bike, though.

BTW it's a stock 45ci with linkert carb, 3-speed tranny. Aluminum Heads

It might do eighty for a minute.
It would have to be a long steep grade, downhill. With a good tailwind.
With over-inflated tires. No bags or windshield. You will have to hug the tank of course.
It could happen. Honest.

You can change the motor sprocket to a 34T for more mph.
(that's the biggest oem size made)
Also-if you're not interested in increasing power, ya may wanna keep looking....but if you are: You're in the right place!!! ;D
a 45 is a Very reliable & fun machine!!

My 45 servi-car (3-wheeler) can cruise @ 70mph all-day..
(that's her sweet-spot @ 70mph)
(but it's slightly modified) ;D

And it weighs almost as much as (2) 45" WL's..

That's good to know. I'm not a hot-rodder, 70 to 80 is just fine by me. I wouldn't mind doing a few little things to get a little more speed. If I can get a dependable 70 out of it it should be fine for me.

Rode mine last year from the death valley meet into las vegas and on numerous occasions on that ride ran full throttle for at least 10 minutes. Even laying down on the tank could not get it over 70. But man was it fun!

Well for the 45 WLC (canadian) 45's HD did.. BT springer...
& for the '58 newr Servi's HD also used the Glide fr ends...

What mods you running on that servi, if you don't mind revealing secrets. I'm looking at K pistons, stiffer exhaust valve springs, 29 tooth engine sprocket and a 38mm mikuni as starters

I see Billy didn't jump back in here with his secret mods to get that servi cruising at 70. Bottom line: bigger is better, there's no substitute for more cubic inches. Truitt and Osborn make a killer set of stroker flywheels that will give you ten more inches, they have all the other stuff too like the special pistons you need so you don't have to use stroker plates under the jugs.

stroked to 4-7/16" T&O.. (T&O now have 4-1/2" stroke too) ;D
JE custom pistons. (T&O now carry their own)
cams- Leineweber (torque grind)
Hi-Comp #6 alum heads + (copper H. gaskets)
tweaked auto-adv timer
Relieved / blended / ported & decked for min. squish.
true dual exhaust (my own version)
One of my CV carbs (of course)
was running a 33T sprocket in Fla. (flatlands)..
May drop down a sprocket size or two, up at my new home-base. Winding country roads & hills. ;D ;D (ALL GOOD)
This is just the high-lites. List goes on :-X ;D
BEST part is the motor & x-police wheeler still "look stock" = sleeper

Billy, who did the cams for your servi? Did you find a set already ground or did you send them off? I'm starting another stroker project and looking for some suggestions on the cam grind.

He re-ground, & re-hardened them..
I didn't want any long duration cams, as it would hurt low end torque (especially on a servi)
So I opted for more lift & modest duration.. Works well !!
If UR stroking a 2 wheeler you may wanna go more aggressive like KHK cams.. I think 45 depot has them in stock ?
