Is it hard? (not an x rated question)
I just blew out my right leg...don't know how long it will be before I can kick with it. I'm sure I'm not the first guy to try it, but whats it like learning to kick with your left leg?...Should I sit backwards? Always bring my wife? ( she's an excellent kicker when it comes to my ass) I haven't tried it yet, I'm still limping around.

I think a lot of people here 'roll the motor over' with their left leg, no big deal. You'll just have to adapt......
Sorry to hear about your blown-out leg and hope it heals fast.

Granny used to start the knuckle for Sunday go to meeting, she'd have it warmed up and ready for Paw. She didn't crack 5 ft. tall. Or, unless you're a flat lander, carefull parking and gravity will solve the issue.

I said she could kick my ass, not my pan.

I've never used my right leg ever to kick. I injured my right knee at 13. My procedure: turn the forks to the left. Prep engine(prime with gas, choke, whatever your normal routene is. With both hands on the grips use yer left leg, bring it up to compression, ignition on, and drop on the pedal with yer left leg. You will find also that most of yer body weight comes down on the pedal this way, giving ya a better spin on the motor. It'll take some getting used to, but I find this way superior to right leg kicking.

It can be done, just takes a little practice...

Re: Is it hard? (not an x rated question)
I broke my right tib-fib and fractured my right ankle in a non motor vehicle related fall a couple of years ago.
In about 4 months I was riding the Knucklehead again and using the left leg starting technique as shown in the
video. Not too hard to adjust to.
As my leg healed and regained strength, I was back to right leg starting.

Thanks for the replies...I have new found confidence in not having to spend all that dough on the link to the electric starter, but it was quite a piece of equipment. ...loved the shovel chopper video....Man, those handlebars!...some stuff!

yep this is exactly how I do it. Notice that the trick is to have forks turned left, both hands on the bars, ya get yer balance this wayjdpan wrote:It can be done, just takes a little practice...

I can just breathe heavy on my Knuck, and she's running and ready.
Pans have a skosh more compression, however.
And every aftermarket "update" might just make it stiffer.

I'm going to have to learn that technique too. I'm hoping to have my right hip replaced this winter.

Not much more painful than a freshly hyper-extended knee..
