Head Hog?

#1

Post by 1964 pan »

Does any one happen to know the status of Head Hog? Are they still in business. I called both numbers and got a answering machine. I emailed. Got no return call and no response to email. I have a spare pair of panheads that I want to get the seats built up and valve job done. Thanks.

Yes he is still in business...

He has a set of heads of mine being worked on.

Be patient, and Don will get in touch with you.

Ol pan!

Quite often previous valve jobs have been relieved into the aluminum in order to "un-shroud' the valve.
This would leave no support or walls to serve as a vessel for "pouring" more bronze, or a spray-welded overlay.

This does not mean they cannot be repaired with a conventional bronze insert, however.

Ol Pan,

Don took something like 8 months to do my heads. But it could be different now, either shorter or longer.

One of my valve seats was not repairable using his standard process so he pressed in a new bronze seat. He was able to source a bronze alloy that best matched the expansion coefficient of the head - he may still be able to do that.

Don has had my heads since Nov, he did tell my up front that it was going to take some time and I say OK take your time.

Don told me the reason my heads would not be repairable with the overlay process, was due to the fact that theres steel inserts in place of the bronze... and that there would probably more damage done trying to remove them........So Leave them in place was the advice given, and Taken.

I recently received a email from Don informing me that my heads were safe and sound.

Thanks, George. I figured he was busier than a three legged cat with diarrhea. I'll just keep ringing his bell til I get a response.

I really can't understand businesses that have an 8 month backlog of work, and continue to solicit and accept more.

It's that big "internet" thing - perhaps you've heard of it?
Or do all these people box up heads and sent them to "the guy who fixes heads, at wherever he is"?

Is it just my browser? This doesn't seem like much of a web presence to me!:

My old IE is worthless, but my wife's VISTA can see it;

Nice little website!
Its informative, with no hard-sell;
No forum or blog... and a 2009 copywrite.

A lot of thought and effort went into it.
Would you expect a business to can its signpost on the information highway the minute it is booked ahead, Kitabel?

You made me think he was running ads in Walnecks or the AMCA mag: real advertising.

I'm sure he appreciates this recent flurry of hits!
