Mint '57!
Yea, I also hang out with the other guys on a Bobber Forum. A guy posted a couple of weeks ago...
My Pal got a chance to buy a Mint condition 1957 Panhead with 6000km(claimed) original mileage... 2 previous owners, the current owner and his dad who bought it brand new in 1957...
its completely stock and really never leaves the driveway......
He finally posted some pictures. I think it was Cheap $5,500.00 (Canadian)
Uh no, I didn't tell him.

Re: Mint '57!
yep, its a completely original '57 Pan-o-Glide, you can tell for sure because it has the letters P A N drilled into the ho-made cover for the belt primary. And I'm sure it was a very late '57 because most of the early ones did not have rear suspension!?
What a laugh! C'mon, ya just gotta tell him, if you don't somebody else will.

Re: Mint '57!
I'll tell ya what saddens me-the buyer was probably over enthusiastic, who wouldn't be if yer buyin' yer first Pan, Knuckle, Shovel, or any other old Harley Davidson. I just hate that whoever sold it to him didn't have the common decency to explain to the buyer what exactly the machine was, whats been changed, and whats been done to it. Instead he got a B.S. story implying nothing at all truthfull, which in turn denied him of an informed choice. And in my previous post, I was not at all makin' fun of newbies--we all were that at one time, and most of us have been screwed like this, for lack of a better word. The same goes for the thread I've been commenting on about parts too. What us guys have here is alot more than a hobby, its more like a life's passion with these bikes and the corruption that goes on within disgusts me

Re: Mint '57!
Think he might be interested in Serial Number 00000001 Evo-Bob trade? I just happen to have a 2012 in the garage with only 400 miles! I might ask but I'd have to get about $5,999.99 in "boot"!58flh wrote:HEY CAP-----I know what your thinkin! ----RICHIE
I've also met a guy who's neighbors brothers friend bought an Original 427 Cobra for $3,000.00 too.

Re: Mint '57!
For $5500 Canadian I would have bought it in a milisecond if I had the chance!
Delkron cases are great, usually beefier than stock and can take more of a pounding than stock ones. I know of a few with shovels that run these cases when their stock cases failed after installing stroker kits.
If it runs well, then I think this is a great deal!
Of course, for me it doesn't have to be origional. I would also go through it to see what I have.
I like to ride 'em, so if an origional fails, then I wouldn't hesitate to change parts for reliability when I can.
(Sorry, I am not a purest, I ride a chop)
Mag, belt drive, stronger cases, even a frame with shocks. So far all OK for me.
If the parts work together and it gets your knees in the breeze, then for $5500 I think he did OK.
It just may be tough getting a title to say '57, unless the numbers were transfered to the cases legally.

Re: Mint '57!
Of course, it was still mis-represented as an origional, and I agree that if the buyer wanted an origional, shame on the seller!!!!!
