Push rod hydraulic unit

When removing the hydraulic units from 58 pan. One was stuck, the piston spring catches collar of mating cylinder.Is this a common issue ?
1) anyone make a decent replacement unit ?
2) on reassembly prior to adjustment are hydraulic units collapsed or popped up?
