Testing a generator , test

#1

Post by flatheadDave »

I have a 32e 6volt 2 brush generator that’s off-the-bike. The generator started to fail. I took the generator out of the bike and just put in some new brushes. Is there a bench tedt I can do to check voltage before I put it back into the bike?

If your 32E has been converted to a 2-brush unit, you can see if it "motors".

This is done by connecting a battery to the generator, plus to the "RELAY" terminal, and minus to both the "SWITCH" terminal and the frame of the generator.

This should make the generator spin, counterclockwise when you are looking at the gear end of the generator.
