I am installing a Cycle Electric 12 volt low amp generator on my 61 pan. My old generator did not have a washer between the drive gear and the nut, In my manual it shows a small washer about the diameter of the drive gear but many pictures I've seen show a much larger washer. Does it make any difference? Thanks in advance for any help.

The small washer is correct for Big Twins, the large washer is part of the crankcase breather system on Sportsters.
