I am rebuilding a 51 engine for future project.
Should I stick to the .002-.004 int. and the .004-.006 exh. stem clearance per manual ? Seems excessive to me. Any difference for SS or stk. valves?
Where is a good place to get valve guild tool for cutting for seals?
Thanks for help

Rammy!
If you choose soft cast iron guides (such as Rowe) with seals, and avoid bare stainless stems, then it is quite safe to fit at .0015" for the intake, and .002" on the exhaust.
Nitrided stems are usually preferred for cast iron guides.
Seal cutters are readily available from most automotive tool suppliers, such as http://www.goodson.com/.
