I am learning a lot here. I want to install 1956 top end onto 1960 cases.
I recently bought a 1960 panshovel motor and want to convert it back to a true panhead motor. The cases check out to be 1960, the vin and belly numbers support the 60. I have a set of 1956 heads and cylinders. I want to know if these are compatible with 1960 cases.
Any information is welcome.

Re: Mixing and matching heads and cases
What are the casting dates on the heads and cylinders? They are probably correct for 58-62.

Thanks for your reply. I will have to check the casting dates and get back to you.

Re: Mixing and matching heads and cases
All Panhead top ends can be swapped to any pan lower end. There are a few minor oiling differences, but basically any will work with a minimum of effort. To be as correct as possible it is best to use stuff from the same general year as things such as size of fins, intake type, etc changed over the years.
