Post by Diesel 68MC »

So i noticed that on my 62 the pans are discolored on the left side corners of the exhaust port side on both of them. Looks a golden color like heated stainless. its only about halfway up from the flange. Id post a pic but it wont let me. any ideas on this???? thanks in advance Diesel

Diesel 68MC!

Are they the original anodized aluminum covers, or stainless replacements?

If they are aluminum, it may be something like waxes or cleaners baked upon the outside.
If they are stainless or steel, that's pretty hot.

Diesel --sounds like a normal old cover discoloration!-I have a set of oem covers & they look as you just described.--RICHIE 8) / ps if they were ss as COTTON said THEN you would be in trouble.(real hot).
