The best one is made by Baisley hi-performance in Portland, Oregon. I'll try to post a picture soon.

Thanks guys. There is a similar tool at one of the stores here in Winnipeg. I'll check it out.

These are some bad pictures of the Baisley tool. You can quickly do your valve work with this and check your coil bind. A great tool if your going to do much valve work.

Steve,
Any of the big "C-Clamp" compressor tools will do the job just fine. A lot of the auto parts stores will loan them to you for a deposit, you get your money back when you bring the tool back.

I use a Motion-Pro tool, had it for years, I think a new one is about $125. Rent one, a lot cheaper if you are not doing this on a regular basis.

Mike,

The local auto parts store has one like that for $50. It's probably made in China, but I'll bet it will work just fine for the two sets of heads I'll be working on. If I was gonna do this on a regular basis, I'd definitely buy better quality, but for what I need, I think it will be good enough.

Thanks.

Nice! Original HD no less.

I bought one like Mike showed for $50. It'll do the trick.

There are compressors, and there are compressors:

Since I had to locate mine today. Here it is.

Mr. Cotten has some tools!

Yea, I made mine from a standard "C" clamp.

Damn big ain't it? I also welded on a piece of 1/2" pipe to the stationary end about 3/4" long so the clamp body would clear the head.

Folks,

"C"-clamp style compressors for OHVs often work best when clamped by their spine in a sturdy vise.

"F"-clamps for Flattys (just a coincidence) can occasionally be used with the cylinder installed.
