Re: Best vin yet.
that one's a dandy alright, this may be the first one we've seen that have the case halves welded together, I guess the "professional" that did that was so confident in his work that he knew the engine would never have to come apart again, the bottom end would last forever. The VIN numbers actually don't look too bad, and there are still a couple of belly numbers left on the cases, I can sort of see a 4 and a 7.
from his description:
Engine has been sealed as shown since engine was professionally rebuilt three years ago
Center cases have been professionally welded along bottom seam
He isn't trying to hide anything so, as usual, its "Buyer Beware"!

Re: Best vin yet.
I’m thinking letting this go through his shop makes him at least an accomplice to an altered vin. Worse yet a butcher of old iron.

Re: Best vin yet.
I love when I see them do all the welding and they dont even straighten out the motor mounts or the timing plug.

Re: Best vin yet.
come on moderater, those numbers are no where close! The '5' is the only thing close. the three should be flat top, with serif, the FL should be flat top and bottom with nothing added, the one is not to be flat on top but slope down to the left and the base of the one is way to long. The '0' is way to wide. BUYER BEWARE INDEAD as with all things, but VIN not being correct is a bad place to build from and NO Paperwork, Go figure!

Re: Best vin yet.
Humm, I'm not a brain surgeon, but welding cases together doesn't seem to be a "good" method of zipping up a set of cases......

Wow. looking at that gave me a good laugh. How could anyone try sell something like that?
The questions asked were funny too. Spot on.

Re: Best vin yet.
Hey that Weld job on the case is the First thing that jumped out at me. WTF? If the Moron that build it did that really makes you wonder about what's inside! "Center cases have been professionally welded.."
And not to nit-pick the POS, but How'bout them Lids? I'm sorry but those look like the "Can's" they're putting on Evo heads to make them look like a Pan.
I'm guessing the Left case was blow to bits long ago and someone dug a replacement out and Re-Stamped it (with the "original" Serial Numbers).
Who's heads are those?

can't believe he posted my remark to part it out! The invoice looks like they sold him used parts to build it.

Re: Best vin yet.
I think those are STD heads by the dual plugs machined on them. And the craziest thing about this is that in order to weld that,he did it with the engine all together.

Re: Best vin yet.
Unbelievable.
"It looks like a sturdy, professionally welded job, and sorry if it does not also look slick, but it's under the motor. "
Hey, it's under the motor, nobody ever looks there, right ? LMFAO.

sorry Texas, I guess I wasn't sarcastic enough, read the rest of the sentence. We all know what good numbers should look like, and they should NOT look like those!Texas wrote:come on moderater, those numbers are no where close!
