Tachometer

I want to install an electric tach on my '56 but I don't know what kind of tach will work. Also, I've read that I need some kind of adapter for a single fire motor. Anyone have any suggestions? How do I wire it? Thanks.

I just took a speedo with tach. off my 65 ( point ign. )so I could have a trip odometer and your tach will have a ground wire ( to any ground of course ) a power wire (12/6 volt which ever you get, I think you can get a 6 volt tach, not sure on that one ) and a trigger wire that goes to the points /ign. post on the coil.( probably the front cyl.coil if single fire and there may be an adapter for your particular ign. system , check with the manufacturer)
