Repack speedo
i was going to repack the speedo, manual says every 15000 mi but there is no instructions in the hd,or clymer manuals ,or plamers book that i could see, there is a cover in the back but it dont look like a place to shoot grease, any one packed one of thes before, shaker

hello, the book says grease the speedo cable. DONT GREASE THE SPEEDO. that would be very bad. as in it will not work no more.to grease cable I put some in the palm of my hand and pull and spin cable as I do this till it has a light coat on it then your done, put cable back in. if you want you can clean cable and housing before lube job. it just depends on how dirty it is or old the grease is.

ok , that should not be a problem , i thought it meant to pack the drive gears,inside the speedo. thanks.

On the subject of speedos
On two of my Pans the dials are white with numbers 10 thru 120 was this a standard dial or from another bike.Please help.

You need to invest into a copy of Palmer's "How to Restore Your Harley-Davidson" (Motorbooks International).
The solid white speedo was much earlier than the Pan era, so it is a good bet you've got $60 repops instead of $800 originals.
Look for Harley-Davidson on the faces. Repops don't have it.
