FL 1951 Speedo Cable
Hello everyone! I’ll appreciate your advice on this: I bought a speedo cable for my 51 FL; however it seems that only one size fits well, the other side of the cable which connects to the speedo does not fit. Attached you’ll find some pics where you can observe both sides. Thanks for your help

I don't believe that is a stock speedometer-I think the stock unit would have a female thread, and that end of the cable would have a male thread.
I know that my '52 is like I described.
That said, what does not fit about the cable and the speedo in your photos?

Had this problem recently. Speedo is later model, with smaller (12mm? ) connector. I had to buy the type of cable that matched or another speedometer. Bought the cable.

Thanks for your comments. For a better comprehension of the issue I'm attaching the following pics:
1. An image of the speedo. It's worth to mention that this is not the correct one for a FL 51.
2. A comparison of the old and new cable. The issue is with the connectors in the lower side of the pic. The ones on the upper part are equivalent and fit correctly.

The connectors shown in the upper part of that photo are the ones that would go to the transmission.
The lower left connector fits later speedometers. The lower right one would fit a stock '51 speedometer.

Re: FL 1951 Speedo Cable
I'm thinking the cable on the lower left may be for an early Sportster.

That speedometer shown is a factory replacement type made in the mid '60s to use on '56-'61 models but uses the stock later '60s thin diameter cable.
