Handlebar brake cable path

#1

Post by 64duo »

I've seen several variations of the path given the brake cable & housing from the right hand grip down to the front brake drum.
Some versions have the cable routed down the right side of the frame and headlight housing, down and over the top of the fender and bent around to the brake cable tube.
Others, like my 64 have the path of the cable going from the brake lever up and over the frame to the left front of the headlight cover straight down to the brake cable tube. So in essence, both brake & clutch cables go down on the left side.

I just gotta know......which is correct? Any positive sources?

Don't the 60 and later Duo models use a brake tube that curves up over the left side of the front fender? That indicates the route is up the right side of the neck.

Found the answer, will share with those that care.

"The brake control tube on all 1949-59 Glide models and 1960-1968 handshift models parallels the fork leg the entire length of the tube. The control tube on 1960-1968 footshift Glide models crosses the top of the fender to the other side."
