Should there be a washer between the nut and the triple tree?

Noclass---my answer is yes!--I have put stainless flat washers on then the nut!---The stainless is not proper ,I think they were cad-plated ?--But yes a washer goes there.--If you try bolting-up without a washer ,--it dont look right!--Just my 2--Good-Luck---RICHIE/ PS---My manual shows the same pic. as yours!--soo-I went with what should be for correct tightening disperse.--- 8)
