seat post bushing

Checked the KB and can't find anything on the seat post bushing.

The top of my post tube is, lets say, a bit outta whack. what, if anything, holds the bushing in? I got a new pogo and bushing from V-Twin and wanna get it all fitted.

One side of the bushing has a slight bevel on it, figure that side goes into the tube an I correct on that at least?

I also assume it gets driven flush with the tube top, not sticking up at all?

fit between pogo and bushing, smooth, no slop but not tight?

I already put heavy spring set I bought on it, as it came from V-Twin all 150 pounds of me can bottom it with just a bit of up and down with the frame on the floor and just the pogo & t-bar, not even the buddy seat and OL on it!

drive it into the frame, it will tighten the ID up a bit, you may have to even remove a bit of the bushing to get the pogo to fit.
bushing sits flush with the top of the frame bevel side down....

funny thing that you posted about this subject. as I was going to replace mine also....

got a bushing from work and made it fit what I needed......

As I recall there should be a channel on the outside of the bushing that lines up with the zerk and allows grease, when pumped in thru the zerk, to surround the bushing, and inject around the post...Mike

man, i envy you.

I have to buy, rarely can make anything although if I know how things are supposed to go together I'm pretty innovative.

I have no grease fitting in my post tube, did they all have them? maybe my tube was replaced with a AM or fabricated one? Think I should put one in? now would be easy, drill & tap near the top of the tube.

Anyway, I did get mine in, took a bit of fitting, but fits tight in the tube and the pogo rides nice & smooth in the bushing. I worked some with a few sets of springs I had too, I'm 150 lbs, OL 100, buddy seat and T-bar, etc.

frame is sitting on a dolly (makes it easy to work on in my kitchen) assembled the entire seat "system" and me and the OL went for a ride, lol Think I got it now as far as the seat goes. now just wheels, motor, brakes, etc, etc, etc, 2 months and about another 10K and I should be ready to take her out in the street.

you'll be glad you did, It should be short enough to miss the post, and alighn with the groove in the bushing....Mike
