Buddy seat
I just picked up a buddy seat and I need some parts that I don't know the part numbers for , hope some one can help. What I need is for the rod that goes through the frame that holds the spring brackets on the frame, there is a bushing or some thing ( tapered adapter ,stepped washer ? ) for both sides where it attaches to the frame and the rod goes through them and nuts attaches the rod on both sides. The springs fold from under the seat and rest in holes in the brackets. From what it looks like from some of the catalogs , it may be a 65 -84 seat. I have a 58 frame.

Re: Buddy seat
Based on the description, it is probably 52605-58, Spacer (2) goes on rod inside support brackets. 6332B, Washer, 5/16" x 15/16" x 1/16" (2) first outside brackets, then, 7725 Nut, 5/16-24 Flexloc (2). This holds the rod. For the springs themselves, a Spacer, Spring Support, 52606-58 (2) goes between the bracket and spring on bolt 3996 (2) 5/16-24 x 7/8 hex. The bolt is then secured with a washer (2), 6332B, 5/16 x 15/16 x 1/16 and nut (2) 7725 Flexlock. It is all shown on page 68-69 of the 1958-68 parts catalog. Whew!
Oh, the rod itself is p/n 52602-58 described as Stud, Spring mounting. It is simply round stock threaded on both ends.

Re: Buddy seat
Thanks for the replies , It looks like the late mod. parts are going to need some tweaking . Meaning I had to alter the spring seats for the frame . There must be a difference between 58-64 and 65-84 frames , I would of thought they were the same , maybe because the mod. for the electric leg and its bigger batt.( elec. start ) I have to order a new post set up and hope it sets up the same with the newer seat, I think it should , but I didn't think the frames would be diff. , so ya never know.

Re: Buddy seat
I posted a pic of my setup on the forum. Meanwhile, there's a ton of springs stuff for both pre-and post- '65 springs on eBay right now. Do a search for Buddy Seat.

I'm hoping that the newer seat set up will look OK, I mocked it up with out the post and it seems to line up all right . I will just have to shim the spring seat brackets to alien them with the springs.

I plan on changing to the org. type helper springs like on yours later on , I just want to get it on and use the seat for now. Since I have to not only get the post & spring set up but also the buddy seat foot brackets and pegs for the little woman , other wise she will look like shes on one of them there rice burners with the frame mount seat and peg set up I have on there now. Hot chicks do look good the way they sit in that position on those rice grinders.
