Thanks Cotton. It is pleasure to meet you. I thought I read somewhere you make a better mouse trap for the linkert floats.
My 49EL is running a little rich and I am slowly setting the low idle jet down but I need to run compression test but just in case my float is gas logged and needs to be replaced I thought I might see what is the best way to go.
Thanks,
Tracy

Tracy!
First I must ask if your cylinders are running the same plug color. If not, your manifold should be pressuretested for leaks before any other tuning concerns.
While your carb is off, inspect the float closely.
With the lever still attached, it should float to the surface in a bucket of fuel with about a third of it above the surface. Anything heavier leaves you to trial and error to find a marginal sweetspot, and you can only hope that it will stay that way.
Yes, I offer a set-at-spec-and-forget-it alternative. Please post me direct at liberty@npoint.net if you find a problem.
