1950 FL Paint Question - What Have I Got

#1

Post by tcb-1 »

Gang,
I will be getting my tins freshened up in the next few months. The tank and the rear fender have been repainted in the past (poorly I may add) and the front fender appears to be a green-blue. The paint on the fender "appears" to be original, however I haven't figured out what year it was from.

The question comes from the tank and fender color, it looks like the 53-54 Glacier blue.

So the question is, does either the front fender or the tank/rear fender appear to be a correct '50 color? I believe it's too light to be Rio Blue or Riviera Blue.

Guess in the long run, it doesn't matter since there were no paint codes stamped on a separate option tag...... Pick a 1950 color I like and go for it, eh?

What do you have? Blue, does not match Azure blue, Riveria blue or Glacier blue.
Azure blue, chart is close to real color, http://www.hydra-glide.com/kb/inf_colors.php
Riveria blue is darker then chart, http://www.hydra-glide.com/kb/inf_colors.php
Glacier blue (many thanks to Perry Ruiter).

TCB-1----The color you have now on the pic. atomic blue I believe somebody mentioned, is awesome! Your bike looks great! just the way it is! I personaly would leave-it till it needs another paint-job from just daily use digs here and there the ocasional stone thron-up by a cage-tire etc. Just my 2 on it!--Unless your bike is pretty much stock & you dont put the miles on! Then go for the Originality you want. Once again the pan looks beautiful!--58flh 8)
