On my 50 model I have what I think are original tank badges. They were dented up some and the chrome finish was pitted. Anyhow I checked it with a magnet and it was Non magnetic. Hoping it was stainless I could remove the chrome and use my buffer to polish it. With the only option to make a third trip to the chrome shop I figured what the heck I'll try it. After I removed some of the chrome it looked brass underneath? Anyhow I polished it up and it looks good.
I looked in my Palmers and not much on it.
Just wondering if anyone has ran into this and what kind of metal it is?

Re: Speedball Tank Emblem Question
Originals are indeed chrome plated brass. So are spotlight bodies, fender tips, horn covers, headlight shells, and some other plated trim items.

Re: Speedball Tank Emblem Question
I noticed the FOX on mine. wasn't sure if that was the original stamp or not thanks.
I've polished mine and think I'm leaving them that way and not chrome. I've already sent 2 boxes for chroming and don't want to delay my shipping. I kind of like the look.
I don't plan to show mine anyhow. I'm building it for me.

Re: Speedball Tank Emblem Question
Here's a little piece that I heard but haven't verified. On the speedballs, the spear that extends horizontal is a little longer, the point, on originals, the repops are shorter. I figured this was the place to throw that out.
