Bondo on tanks

I picked up a pair of period correct tanks that have a lot o bondo under the paint. Whats the best way to remove the bondo without screwing up the ( I hope they are there) tanks emblem mounts and ( do I dare hope ) tank shift mount? I these turn out to be repops I am going ot put them on Ebay and hope for the best.

I have good luck with methyene chloride paint stripper.

You should be able to look inside of the left cap bung to see if there are 'lugs' for a shift gate to bolt to.

Use crushed wallnuts to strip, it will not harm the metal.
