Steering dampener
Hi guys, I'm planning on adding a steering dampener to my 51 wishbone/hydra-glide. Looking thru the v-twin and JP cattalogs I'm able to locate the parts but I am unclear on the pin that secures the friction disks to the top tree. Is it the same pin that is used to hold the center disk to the frame? Thanks!..MW
Re: Steering dampener
The bottom metal plate (p/n 46720-4Cool has a pin that fits into one of the three holes on the top triple tree. It's splined and meshes with the splines on the crenalated nut (p/n 45718-4Cool. Then your first fiber plate, then the center metal plate that is anchored to the frame with the other pin you mentioned.
Small luxury there with the dampener. Nice to have it tight when cruising long straightaways. Not so good with frequent aggressive cornering in town though..

Re: Steering dampener
DJ, I was just looking to improve the looks of the top tree with the dampener and thought it might also help with wobble. Thanks for the info!..MW
