COIL CTC DISTANCE
I have a couple of older coils and I have a brand new repro coil. The mounting holes on them are all different by being modified by slotting the holes or by the manufacturer's own specs. So my question is what should the center to center distance be on the mounting studs on a '51 Wishbone frame. Is it 5-5/8" or 5-3/4"?

Re: COIL CTC DISTANCE
The terminal box is not slotted . The coil mounts are slotted I believe to facilitate mounting and removal . Are you welding on frame mounts?

Re: COIL CTC DISTANCE
When I first got the bike about 15 years ago the wiring was such a mess so I bought a new terminal box from Colony right away. At that time I had to slot the holes to make it fit. Then when I converted to 12v I got a round chrome coil with a hole and slot at 5-5/8" ctc which fit right over the terminal studs. Now I got a new repop coil and the hole and slot are 5-3/4" ctc. So my question is are the bolt on parts out of spec or is my frame out of spec?

Thanks for the input guys. I found out it's 5-3/4" ctc. I just happen to have a frame with a poorly repaired threaded holes.

Here is what a poorly done repair looks like.
