A very ole worn sprocket !

I found this ole well worn sprocket in my late Dads parts and was wondering just what it was for..any ideas ?
The center is exactly same as the one for a Harley.

Looks like a VERY worn out VL sprocket. The spline is same as later 4 speeds.
