had inner primary belt for 25-30 years best thing that ever happened to the old pan,rear belt would be great,no lubing..no adjustment .

Sure it can be done. Yer gonna have to go to a -70 motor sprocket shaft in the engine. Yer gonna have to run a -70 mainshaft and use a tranny case with ears (65-78 will work but yer gonna have grind and relieve the livin piss outta the clutch side of the case for clearance). You could also use a 79-86 case (a better choice) cause these will accept the trans. pulley you will need. A swing arm from a Sturgis, any belt drive lowrider through 1984, or a factory belt drive bagger through 1984 will take care of the swing arm end of the deal. You will need a flanged hub wheel or mag wheel and disc brake setup. If yer gonna try to run an electric start system, ya need to come up with inner and outer primary cases for a factory belt drive motorcycle, but the factory didn't make an inner primary case that would bolt to yer left engine case. You will have to graft a front half of a 65-69 inner to the rear half of a factory belt drive inner primary. Now ya gotta come up with an oil tank. You may or may not be able to utilize a stock square oil bag, but with a drop link frame this may not work. Now ya need a battery set up. If you can make the square oil tank fit, you can use a corresponding stock battery box for an FX or FL. Of course you will need to convert to 12V if ya wanna run the electric leg. The more stock H-D parts you can find and use, the less fabricating and modifying you will have to do. This covers the major parts, but there will be other minor things/parts I have not covered. Given enough time and/or money, anything can be done. Ya just gotta ask yerself, is it really worth the effort and expense....bosheff

4 speed tranny pulleys for rear belt drive systems will mate up to any 4 speed main drive gear. The problem with using a pre 79 tranny case is clearance for the pulley....bosheff
