Clutch Rod 47 Kucklehead
my clutch rod scrapes the front of my primary I have looked at pictures in some books I see this appears to be somewhat normal ? I don,t think that was how Harley built them ! But Iam no expert and my buddys Knuckle does the same thing, But I don,t think it was like that before I took it apart to restore it I don,t rember any rubbing on the primary before I redid it, So my question should I bend the clutch pedal out and the foot pedal or is there someting Iam doing wrong ?

Re: Clutch Rod 47 Kucklehead
There should be a 3/16" gap between the rod and the cover.
If they touch the rod is to low or the cover is to high.
Is the clutch rocker and primary original to the bike?
Are the holes centered where the inner primary bolts to the engine?
Are there spacers between the engine and frame?
Where is the transmission in the adjustment range?

no 3/16" right on it front top of outer primary
the outer primary original inner repop
foot clutch pedal original and bracket original
bolts were centered but i wonder if the cork gasket could be pushing the whole primary inner and outer out two far?
no spacers on engine to frame it bolted up perfectly
trans adjustment fine

Re: Clutch Rod 47 Kucklehead
Do you have the original inner primary?
The trans slides on a plate. Where is it currently bolted in the range?
Any damage to clutch lever (between rod and trans).

Re: Clutch Rod 47 Kucklehead
the trans plate and trans and motor bolted up perfectly, the inner primary that was on it when i got it was aftermarket but I am sure the clutch rod did not hit the primary ,but I just wonder if the cork gasket between the motor and primary would hold the covers out just enough to make the rod hit

Re: Clutch Rod 47 Kucklehead
The bolted trans position affects geometry.
If the trans is near the front the rod is raised.
If the trans is near the rear the rod is lowered, less clearance.
My panhead has pedals which hit the floor board before the clutch rocker would.
You could add pedals.

Re: Clutch Rod 47 Kucklehead
Then there is the one thing that nobody mentioned. The clutch arm? If it’s worn in the square it will hang down no matter how tight you turn the nut on top of it. Bob L
