pan aluminum clutch pressure plate question

can anybody tell me if these new aluminum pressure plates for the clutch are necessary ? i do have a barnett clutch pack set and matching springs. my engine is mildly hot rodded ? also if its recomended who makes and sells them that are U.S.A. made ?

None! It does just as good of a job as the orignal. If I started out selling this crap 30 years ago. I'd be just as rich as the slim that did and I'd beable to get the sweet white hoe on Biker Planet. Bob L

It has been my experience that the stock stamped steel H-D unit holds up pretty well to mildly modified engines. The big selling point on the aluminum units was that they didn't warp as I remember. If you have good springs and a decent stock p.plate you should be good to go if you aren't running to may horses and/or aren't running airplane gears....bosheff

I've seen the aftermarket steel pressure plates warped out of the box.
Check it on surface plate if you have one.

I doubt that even a NOS stock H-D p.plate is anywhere near perfectly flat. That being said, I've serviced some pretty womped out clutches and as long as the motors aren't puttin out mega horse power, the clutches generally seem to be up to the task. Usually it is the fibers that cause the slipping condition, or to much horse power....bosheff

Not sure who or where my alum. pressure plate was made ,but it has worked fine for a many of years now .

GONNA STRAIGHT EDGE MY STOCK H/D PRESSURE PLATE AND SEE WHAT I HAVE. MY ENGINE I,D SAY IS 20% MORE THAN STOCK.I,AM A OLD MAN AND NOT INTO BURNNING MY TIRE OR RACING BUT JUST WANT TO DO MY BEST WITH THIS RESERECTION OF MY SCOOTER.

i run an aluminum plate on my 98 inchdirt drag bike and it has held up well i've burnt two sets of clutch plates last season and thealuminum plate is still flat
