Transmission leaks
I have my transmission apart right now, and want to remedy the leaks around the studs and from the kicker cover. Do you put anything on your transmission gaskets, and what do you put on the studs? I have some rectorseal thread sealant I was thinking of putting on the studs.

Re: Transmission leaks
I used Hylomar on the studs with my latest rebuild. No leaks. I never use anything on the kicker cover gasket. If you have a leak there, perhaps you need to lap the gasket surfaces to get them good and flat.

Re: Transmission leaks
Yeah,if you need sealer on the tranny gaskets, then theres something wrong with the surfaces.I have absolutely no sealer on the tranny with no leaks, and the only thing I used gasket sealer on my motor was the pan gaskets. Also try to find thick gaskets. If you look at the different kicker gaskets, some are like thin paper and some are like 3 times the thickness.I would never even bother with the thin paper ones. They are made to use sealer.
