Testing 3 brush generator with ammetter, and generator remove

#1

Post by dchfle54 »

Hello fellow panhead riders. I am new to this site, but not to my panhead. I on;y wish that i would have found this place a long time ago. What i would like to see is how i would install an ammeter on my generator. It is presently removed from the bike and i have removed the brushes. The problem i am having is the diagrams in my panhead bible are not read able. Help with a schematic so that i can get my trusty old pan back where it belongs

Does anyone out there have a view able page 184 thru 190 from the Panhead service manual? If you do i would sure like to get a copy of them, because mine are not readable and i have to test my generator to see what the hold up is by not bringing any power back to my battery

Are you sure you have a generator issue? It could be your relay. I've found my generator to be very reliable over the years but have had several relay issues, especially with after market relays. Found some were even wound backwards. Paid the extra for an original style Delco & so far all has been fine for the past couple of years. I won't buy any more cheap after market relays ever again.
