hey can anyone tell me the best way to get the tranny outa my 64 havin a few problems thanks

You can get them out without removing the oil tank if you pull the trans with the baseplate still attached and the nuts on the bottom loose.

No need for the nuts to even be loose!
Remove outer primary, remove engine sprocket, remove inner primary mounting bolts, remove rear chain, remove 4 bolts holding tranny plate to frame, remove fifth bolt holding trans to frame on right, remove shifter linkage. Unplug/disconnect any neutral switch wires. Fold kickstart down to rear and slide the entire assembly out the left side. If you like you can also remove the clutch and inner primary while in the frame, but the trans will come out with it attached. Work on the bench at your leisure!
