32E Armature swap to a Model 52 Generator Body, Possible?

G'day All,

I just did a long ride on my 65 (3000 Kilometers or say 1900miles). While I was down south a mate of mine
gave me a model 52 genny

Which I need, as my bike is running a 32E. Now on close inspection the genny, is almost a right off. So it got me thinking........

Is a 32E armature the same as a model 52 armature? I know someone here has the Delco books!
Now, NO, I'm not going to pull apart my good genny to make another.

Its just that 32E parts are slightly more available than model 52. I also need field coils too.

I would be happy for the whole genny to come in at 32E specs with just the body being correct.

Can any see a flaw in the plan,..thanks.

The model 52 armature is the same as a 32E armature. The differences are:
-field coils, pole shoes and pole shoe screws (flat top screws)
- larger main brushes and brush holders, third brush holder is the same but some have one ear clipped where the wire connects to clear the larger main brush holder.

Or, use the 32E armature, 65A fields, toss the 3rd brush, and go 12 volts. Makes a very nice 12 volt generator capable of running a 100w halogen headlight, the better to spot kangaroos with

Frankenstein, you're right those kangaroos can be trouble, but I'm a 6 Volt devotee on 65 and earlier.
Plus I'm a pussy these days, I don't like riding much at night unless I have too. And if it starts raining,
I stop for coffee and if its still raining 2 hours later, I go to a motel. Although on this last trip I did some rain time.

I'll be looking Rob, I'm gonna try the old dude second. There is a guy here who's a good chance. looks like "1955fle"
