Kicker cover filler hole threads

#1

Post by 64duo »

I was looking a long time to try and figure out the correct threads on my pig-nose kicker cover fill hole. The correct tap is 7/8" - 18, just in case anyone is looking.

Its also the same thread as the speedo drives (where the cable screws on), and very early sparkplugs.

Is 7/8"- 18 the same thread as the timer hole plug on the cases? My timer hole threads are shot and now that my motor is down I want to fix the problem. What is the recommended route, helicoil or the oversized plugs?

King!

It's foolish for me to trust my feeble memory here at home with no references at hand, but I think your timing hole plug should be SAE 5/8'-18, and helicoils are readily available.
