do helicoils stand up for kicker cover studs?

Hello all, has anyone used heli-coils for stripped out stud holes that hold the kicker cover on?

I've never had the need to use them on the kicker cover but I would certainly use them there. they would be stronger than new. Go for it!

I use helicoils frequently on stripped cover stud holes(seems like every trans I see has at least one) They work fine.

Heli-coils will work, also you might consider keen-serts or time-serts which are stronger and lock in place better, but you need to make sure you have enough metal as the case is pretty thin. Best repair is fill & redrill if you have access to a good Tig welder.
