I'm rebuilding a transmission for a 1952 panhead and am thinking of purchasing a new Andrews gear-set for it. I am soliciting suggests as to what would be the best ratios from list below? And also has anyone used Andrews gear-sets in the past? Do they make a good product? Any other company's I should be looking at?
The following ratios are available
(2.44 1st, 1.35 3rd)
(2.44 1st, 1.23 3rd)
(2.60 1st, 1.35 3rd)
(2.60 1st, 1.23 3rd)
Thanks for your help

Re: New Trans gear-set for 1952 Panhead?
I have the (2.60 1st, 1.35 3rd) and I like it
if you use the 2.44 1st, you will loose a bit of low end take off
this is more for a lighter bike.....

Re: New Trans gear-set for 1952 Panhead?
I have used, several different Andrews gear sets over the years with no problems. The set up I like the best, is the 2:60 first only. The 2:44 is too much gear unless you have a VERY light bike and some inches. The close ratio 3rd has the effect of making the trans a close ratio 3 speed with an over-drive 4th, I like the standard 3rd much better. Try a 23 or 24 on the trans.

I can't remember the stock ratio's numbers, but use stock rather than the 1:35.
