Transmission leak in 1964 pan

On my 64 pan, I have a small hairline crack just under the kick start arm of the tranny and it slowly leaks tranny oil. Is there any way to fix the crack, or stop the leak, without replacing the entire casing. Also, what could suddenly cause that crack with no "trauma" occuring to the bike? Could a bad kick do it or just stress over time?

if i read this correctly,this crack is on the kicker cover.if so,you can buy another cover,if not you could weld it or try something like jb weld.

Thanks Mark. The crack is just past where the kicker cover bolts on. It's actually on the underside of the tranny. It's almost like one of the bottom bolts on the kicker cover stressed out the tranny caseing and caused a stress crack. JB weld may be my best option.

Hi Morgan

I had a similar crack on my tranny on its base that was weeping oil like yours. I cleaned it up with a small drill bit to give a slight "V" to it and JB Welded it. Two years later still holding.
