Panhead tank shift linkage ? number 2

#1

Post by Paysonpan »

As a follow up to my previous post.
I just want to make sure that my trans top was installed incorrectly . Refer to my response in previous post.
And if so when I remove the top to install it correctly are the timing marks on gears easy to identify?
Thanks for the help as it much appreciated

You want the lever to point down and swing forward and backward the same distance, marks can be wrong or missing.

Be careful of the top hats when you remove the lid! They can fall into the gears very easily!

Thanks for that clarification. I can follow your advice instead of looking for marks and get things working Im sure

Yes sir aware of the top hats from having one fall in side while working on a ratchet top trans many years ago. Stuck in the oil and resorted to pushing with kerosene to get it out.
