Trans oil amount ??

#1

Post by Sandrooney »

I tried searching and could not find anything on the amount of oil to put in the tranny. My local guy says to just cover the bottom of the throw out bearing with the bike straight up. I did that and it is only about 10 ounces. That just doesn't seem like enough. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kevin

They don't like to be too full. Better to be slightly low than slightly high. Be sure to check it fully upright, never on the side stand.

Yeah, 1 1/2 pint!

Too many people tend to overfill their transmissions and if they are running the early style high gear without the seal the oil tends to seep out into the clutch.

I met an old guy decades ago that rode only Indians and he quoted. "A Harley has a dry clutch that's always wet!"
