Re: Ratchet top trans ??
If you were to gut out the stops in the shifter gate, I don't see why not. Your going to have to do some work to the linkage. That actuly sounds like a pretty cool set up. Bob L

V-Twin sell shifter gates for that application. They are just a smooth slot.

I've run a ratchet top for years much nicer than jockey top. I just removed the gate

Re: Ratchet top trans ??
SR---YES a ratchet top does work on a tankshift!---I ran a jockshift & 1st is forward just like a footshifter down--All the rest pull up!.If you were able to find 2-neautrals with the footshift/You now can get three neautrals!--(my trans is a 1944)-If you have a early 50s its a little easier to find those gems on the older trannys.Newer ones are a little harder but can still be done!----Anyone with a handshift bike knows about the NEAUTRALS/PER-SAY---Its not actually a N/but a inbetween 2-gear thing that comes in handy once in a while with a constant mesh mixer.---You wont find it in any manual!/Its a Feel thing.-----WARNING ON the JP lid!--ITS V-TWINGE & will require some work so it can be made funtional!--(just like all thier junk)-Mock it up & pay close attention to the DRUM carrier & shift rod /Most impotant the PAWLS & Springs.(Pawls must be SHARP & GREASE heavy).Make-sure the vent is actually drilled thru to.----Respectfully---Richie

Re: Ratchet top trans ??
Thanks Richie. I would not be replacing the top of the trans. They make a tank shifter kit that will work with the ratchet top. It has a smooth gate and I guess different linkage. Thanks again.
