Kicker slips

#1

Post by Mark »

Can somebody help a brother out....When its cold (below 50 F) my kicker arm drops through and grinds. If I heat the tranny up, it will engage like it is suppose to. I have taking the kicker cover off and poked around alittle bit....didn't see anything unusual.....even tried different wt oil, no luck. My knee would really appreciate any help! Thanks. Mark

The first thing I would check is the bushing in the mainshaft starter gear. # 33438-50
It needs to slide in & out on the shaft with no rocking or wobble.

Absolutely check the bushing as DUOGLIDE said!--no WOBBLE OR PLAY if you want to call it!--Then a set of Ratchet-gears would be best!--Even if one is bad --REPLACE BOTH!, Also dont go cheap on these get GOOD GEARS!,--Stock HD is good ,& baker also comes to mind as a few more!---Incase you need the shaft also, theres 2 & 1-is listed for $18 & 1-for $69--Get the GOOD ONE!,--olny change the shaft if its bent!-(on the square where kicker mounts-up,or galled at the bushing!--usially its the bushing that takes the beating ,just keep an eye on it you will know if you need a new one!---Richie 8)
