Hey,
I know this may have been talked about a million times but i cant seem to find the info i need.
I have a 58 FLH engine in a new VTwin replica '54 rigid frame. I am wanting to run a 1.5 belt in the tin primarys. I have just picked up a 65-77 Shovelhead trans. But have to replace the mainshaft so will get the early m/shaft
Do you have to cut the alu primary ears off to run this or is there another option?
Any info appreciated
Thanks,
James

Re: 65-77 Shovel trans on 58 FLH
James,
The ears can stay. I have one set up like that right now. The studs need to be removed but the casting works as is. However you will need to get and adjuster set-up as E-start cases have no provision for adjustment. The also do not center in the mounting plate. Not an issue in either situation as with the adjuster it allows for good alignment check for a belt primary, and once adjusted it will stay put.
