Electric Franks wiring question

#1

Post by hydra1952 »

I've just installed a new wiring harness on my '52 per factory specs (except it's 12 volt with an electric Franks regulator) and now when I hook up the battery, the idiot light comes on with the ignition switch off. I by-passed the switch and same problem. I have it wired up with black wire from regulator to idiot light, green from regulator to field terminal on generator, red on regulator to switch post 1 (or straight to battery), and green from switch post 2 to armature terminal on generator. Either the wiring is different or I've got a bad regulator. The regulator worked fine before I stripped the bike down, but anythings possible I guess!

Can you use another regulator to eliminate this as the the source of your problem?
