Bendix carb throttle cable anchor
Restoring a '68 and want to put a Bendix on it. Got the throttle sleeve for a pull type carb. Wondering if there is another spot for an outer cable anchor. The one one the lower frame tube between the tanks seems kinda far away from the action. Did H-D make a spacer for the carb similar to the Tillotson one that had a provision for anchoring the outer cable closer to the throttle wire block? I dunno, maybe because the direction of operation is different, a clamp isn't needed. Anybody out there with a Bendix on an early 70's shovel that could clear this up? The other potential problem I see is that there would have to be quite a "hook" in the cable to change its direction from running parallel to the bike to running perpendicular. Any thoughts, help. or pics appreciated.

Re: Bendix carb throttle cable anchor
I believe the stock air cleaner bracket that bolts to the front rocker box tapped hole has an arm that extends over the carb for a cable clamp.

Re: Bendix carb throttle cable anchor
I can't post a pic of the bracket I think you mean because the file size is too big. Any help from anybody to get over this would really be nice. Anyway, the bracket I have is 4-5" long, has a single compound bend in it, and on one end there's a clearance hole for what looks to be a 5/16" screw. The other end has a stud that looks like it's swaged in. One end of the stud is 5/16 fine thread, the other end is 5/16 coarse. Sound familiar?

Re: Bendix carb throttle cable anchor
Is this the one? I have a late shovel and have seen this one and wondered how it fit and why it's shaped like it is. Makes sense about the wire throttle.

Here’s how I did mine on ‘69 FLH. Mounted to manifold bolt.

Re: Bendix carb throttle cable anchor
Looks like that would work. Is that home-made, or perhaps a part of an original piece?

Re: Bendix carb throttle cable anchor
Honestly can't remember but it's not homemade. I have a '67 and '69 with Bendix carb and they both have the same bracket mounted to the manifold bolt.
