Yes, but only 350 cross section, the size used on some Honda Dreams, Triumph cubs, etc....

Right now on the tub itself, I have been running a solid old Goodyear Speed grip, that looks nearly unworn. I don't see a need for a new one there anytime soon, unless a visible issue starts with that tire (sidewall checking , etc)
Those Goodyear speedgrip tires were great for sidecar use
in the past i used the irregularly worn front tires my friends threw away
now I use the Avon MKII front and rear and a Heidenau 18 "for my sidecar wheel

How long have you had the Avons? I have them on the rear of my '65 Servi, but the sidewalls are cracking. I need to look at the date code and see how old they are.

I can't remember when I bought the first Avon, but currently I have two on my 45 and one on my panhead
The oldest is production year 2003 and it has no cracks in the side wall

Mine have code of B077, I think that's from 1997? Might explain some cracking then.

Well, I see another job that needs done. There's what's left of my generator conduit! Looks like the exhaust header has been leaking on it, and/or just too close, but I thought that was the correct location for that conduit?

Since 2000 the production code on tires are 4 numbers, first two the week, last two the year

With the earlier three-number system, only the last number gave the year of production

It helps considerably to make sure the wire is slightly rounded on the end, then work it slowly back in so as not to hook on the internal part of the coil. Been doing it like that on springer bars for decades.
Thanks Robbie. I had been hell bent on being able to squirt fluid down the control coil, but finally decided to just pull the inner control wire 56377-65 and apply grease on its way back in. It did hang about 3/4ths of the way, so had to remove the left tank and frame throttle cable clamp 9958 to let coil straighten out enough for wire to pass.

I still get surprised occasionally by what is NOT obsolete at the MOCO. Decided I would get a few new parts for my pushrod tubes that have too much rust internally. Indywest fixed me up.
17945-36B CAP cover spring, 17947-36 SPRING, pushrod cover , and 6762D washers . Oh, AND they had the 71295-68 instrument panel gaskets too! Both the parts guys were cool. The first asked me what bike I wanted parts for , I chuckled and said, "You don't want to know" , then told him 69 FLH, the other parts guy in back perked up and said " I'll help him! "
Pushrods go back in this week :)

Note to self: you need either a rear wheel installed, or the outer chain cover off, in order to turn motor over when installing pushrods...

New rear tire on rim. Now that I've mount the wheel back on the bike, checking radial and lateral tread run out. Radial is within spec., lateral out by country mile, or at least 1/8". So just checking the rim lip, it runs 7/64. I'm guessing the rim needs some truing. Am I wasting time trying to true the rim off the outer lip while tire is mounted on the bike? I have to take the wheel to local shop to mount /dismount for 25 bucks a pop.

True off of the center drop, not the outer lip. And no need to dismount it, true it in the frame where it sits with the tire on it.

So I'm just running my indicator on the outside of the drop shoulder rather than the inside. I checked there and it was only 5/64 out , so a little better to start with. Thanks Robbie, I'll give it a shot.
